I also remember when polling locations were held at my elementary school. How cool were those little booths that people got to go into, close the little curtain an mark up their own little "test" where it was impossible to get the wrong answer, as long as you answered  Read more...

State fair part 2

August 13, 2008

Now that I have been to the state fair twice in the last three days and I am full of ribeye (holy cow worth staying in Indiana for) and elephant ear, I am back with some of the highlights my daughter and I found this year at the fair. The FAA building is full (FULL!) of hands on activities for kids. A play kitchen, a school bus, a fishing pond, a miniature golf course, an "underground" tunnel  Read more...

'tis the state fair season

August 07, 2008

Did you know that we have one of the largest state fairs in the nation right here in Indianapolis? Growing up we always made our annual trip to the state fair. My favorites as a kid still remain my favorites to this day. Where I grew up I even entered a few state fairs and won a few ribbons. To me the state fair seems to be a rite of passage for every family. Last year was our first year taking  Read more...

Baseball at victory field.

July 29, 2008

I remember going to my first baseball game when I was about 6. It was the Anaheim Angels and my uncle bought me a slushee in a big plastic mug. Even though that's all I really remember, I get a sense of being a kid again when I go to a baseball game. Last night I was able to share in my daughter's first baseball game at Victory Field . The stadium is beautiful, and depending on when you get  Read more...

It opened up discussions on what animals live in Africa, what they eat and how they live. She even found an enormous map at a store and asked "Hey, where's  Read more...
